Late 19th Century Cummins Initial Machine 1982 5" H (x26)c. 1890s; by B. F. Cummins Co. for J. B. Mast Co. New York Antique cast iron initial perforating machine. This piece was initially designed to aid clerks in canceling legal documents before Cummins took his design and partnered with the USPOD (United States Post Office Department) to use his machines to perforate initials on stamps.
