Roxy Symphony Orchestra - Large Photograph 1930 Autographs Actors - Letter E all with Clara Haskil asThe Roxy Symphony Orchestra was a large, popular orchestra in the 1930s and 40s, and belonged to the Roxy Theater (founded in 1927, demolished in 1960). It had famous radio broadcasts Millions of people enjoyed them every Sunday. With 110 musicians, it was the largest permanent symphony orchestra, even surpassing the NY Philharmonic. Estonian born conductor Erno Rapee (1891 1945) was its founder and Music Director, and can be seen at the podium in
