This collaborative piece brought together two of our most popular series: my map paintings and Michele's sheet music aspen trees

Michele and I did the Madison Art Show a couple of times and visited their families lake cottage near Eau Claire so that was my inspiration for the three Wisconsin map paintings

in fact if you look closely you can see where I used a Q-tip to remove some of the paint so they would be more visible

On the original version of Rust & Patina Heart I started with a black background and let it show through at the edges

The acid oxidized copper paints that I used for the clouds gives it sleepy quality especially with the full moon peeking through, and the rusted earth makes it feel solid and immovable. This reproduction has the raised silver embellishment on the mountain peaks as well as the foothills. The metal is sealed and then antiqued with tar. The entire piece then is sealed with UV
