German Export Westerwald Salt Glazed Stoneware King George Jug longcase clocks OLD / by his FellowDETAILS An antique Westerwald pottery pitcher with a tall, tooled, manganese glaze neck over an ovoid body with a loop handle. Made for the British market, the jug is marked with the cypher GR (for Georgius Rex for George I (1714 27) or George II (1727 60), all framed by cobalt blue swirls and scroll decoration. Westerwald pottery is a salt glazed, grey stoneware made in the Hhr Grenzhausen and Ransbach Baumbach area of Westerwaldkreis in Rheinland
